"Cress came to us via a recommendation from a friend. We weren't in a great place with English, heading into year 10 and GCSEs looming. We had an informal meeting with Cress initially to make sure that she and our daughter got along and could work together. This was really helpful and reassuring for all.
Grace had an hour a week, plus homework, and the improvement was clear to see. Her English teacher at school commented and Grace produced some of her best pieces of work. Cress broke things down into small chunks which were less overwhelming, she explained in detail what she was looking for and the quickest way to achieve this. She was always so friendly and understanding. Grace's confidence and ability improved no end and she did achieve those grades she wanted/needed. I strongly believe that the confidence Cress uncovered helped Grace across the board in her exams.
Cress was also brilliant with us as parents: we were always informed and up to date with what was going on, the progression and the plan. We always felt that we were in safe and knowledgeable hands!"- Zabi - mother of GCSE student

"My son has just finished his GCSEs in English Language and Literature and said Cress was an excellent teacher in both subjects. He found her lessons well structured, fun and informative. She gave constructive and focused feedback which helped him to greatly improve his skills in English, as well as teaching him techniques which has helped him to score top marks in essays and analysis. He really looked forward to her lessons which was a credit to Cress's teaching style. Cress was methodical in working through past paper questions and exam techniques ahead of the final exams so that my son felt prepared to face his GCSE exams. We felt Cress was a very experienced teacher who helped my son gain confidence in the subject and aim for a top grade. I would highly recommend Cress- she is an excellent tutor!"

"Cressida is tutoring my year 9 daughter in English. After only two lessons Cressida gave us the most detailed assessment we have ever had from any of her teachers in reports or verbally. Cressida has been able to identify where my daughter struggles and excels in English and has identified some very specific areas to improve and is now providing very tailored tutoring for her needs. Cressida was able to put my daughter at ease from the initial online meeting and my daughter enjoys working with her. I am so pleased we found Cressida in year 9 and feel the tailored tutoring she is doing with my daughter now will reap huge benefits and give her the confidence and skills to succeed in her GCSE course starting next year. I can’t recommend Cressida enough."

"Cressida has been tutoring my daughter, who is in Year 7, since September, after being recommended to me. In this short time I am seeing an improvement in her and how her confidence is growing every session. Cressida is such a kind and caring lady who really has taken her time to get to know my daughter, planning the lessons around her interests but at the same time helping her to improve in her English skills and confidence."

"After searching for a tutor we found Cressida to help my daughter who is retaking English Language GCSE this November. Three sessions later my daughter (who is dyslexic and struggled throughout school) said, ‘She is one the most understanding teachers I have ever had and at last I have a plan on how to tackle creative writing which I find so difficult.’ Following her last session Cress has rekindled her enthusiasm and she now has hope for the retake. The sessions are on line and initially we were both reluctant to try this. However, they work really well and are easy to set up. She is an excellent teacher and I thoroughly recommend her."

"Cressida's unique and engaging teaching style helped my daughter to stay focused and positive throughout her A Level course. Her guidance helped her to develop her writing and analysis skills to a brilliant standard and to achieve her longed-for A grade. What she learnt from Cressida has really set her in good stead at university too. She is a teacher we won't forget, and I highly recommend her as a tutor."

"It is impossible to think of a more dependable and supportive educator than Cressida. She has the ability to ignite a passion for literature in her students. Her sessions were relaxed, varied and creative so that my daughter often didn’t realise how hard she was working! Her confidence grew the more she was encouraged to express her thoughts about texts. This not only had a huge impact on her English Literature essays and helped her achieve the B grade she had been sure was way beyond her reach, but boosted her essay skills for all her A Levels."

"Cressida is a fantastic support to my daughter as she prepares for her A-level English exams. She is extremely knowledgeable and her approach is one of respectful direction which suits my daughter who initially lacked confidence and wasn’t really sure where she needed to improve. My daughter was excited to work with her from their first introductory conversation! As a parent I am always kept up to date. I am aware of how my daughter is progressing, what she needs to do to move forward and how I can assist her at home. My daughter describes Cressida as 'really helpful and really clear. I always understand how to take the next steps to improving my work.'”

"Cressida and I began working together at the beginning of my Access course in Social Sciences in September. It’s been many years since I left school and her help resulted in a merit for my first assignment in English Language and more confidence that I will be ready for University next year. Cressida has the unique ability to illustrate your strengths and work with your weaknesses but with a positive and supportive attitude.”

"Cress has provided English tuition for my son from the start of Year 9. He was disengaged and struggled with English from the beginning needing extra time. Cress has been great with him throughout and has been incredibly supportive and patient, setting him appropriate tasks for the following week (school seemed not to set homework for the lower sets).
The difference has been huge. He has gone from being in the lower set to moving up a set and has improved by 3 grades in GCSE English language along with passing GCSE English literature too and is going on to study English language at A level. I wouldn’t have believed that 2 years ago.
Would wholeheartedly recommend Cress for tuition, she is brilliant. The virtual lessons worked very well and Tom also asked if he could continue with lessons for A Level after his last GCSE one so that speaks volumes!"
